There is a real difference between a relationship with Jesus versus having religion. Religion uses you, but Jesus joins you. Religion abandons you, but Jesus stays with you. Finally, religion condemns you, but Jesus saves you.
Our American culture prides itself in being inclusive of everyone, yet there are countless individuals who are outcasts. We exclude one another for every imaginable reason. We are abandoned, rejected and left alone, yet Jesus is there waiting on us.
Scripture says Jesus is not someone whom we cannot identify with or relate to. He was fully God and fully man and He was tempted in every way that we are. Like Satan tempted Jesus we are tempted by him to depend on our own power, to be popular in the world, and worship the wrong person. After the battle of temptation, where will you be?
Can you imagine the worry Mary and Joseph must have experienced when the 12-year old Jesus went missing for 3 days? They found Him in the Temple showing the Father’s priorities, doing the Father’s business and favoring the Father’s Word.
