Cogburn, Jr., struck down the constitutional amendment that NC voters adopted, and he legalized same-sex unions, placing them in the same legal category as “marriage.” His ruling has had an immediate impact on us in our families, friendships, and workplaces as we find ourselves at odds with people who agree with the ruling, or who simply don’t think the idea of a “traditional marriage” applies any more.
